Love Your Body: Positive Ads

Tired of advertisers peddling flesh and not product? Here are some examples of ads that actually show real-looking women—of diverse ages, ethnicities and body types—taking an active role in the world. (Get involved: Nominate an ad for posting on this page!)

Cover Girl: Warm colors and a soft look. This ad shows that bold, beautiful women come in all shades and sizes.

Crystal Light: Finally, an ad that encourages you to "bring out your beauty," not change yourself to fit someone else's idea of beauty.

Lincoln: The automaker featured triathlete Sarah Reinersten in its "Dreams" campaign. Think about it: When's the last time you saw a woman with a disability in an ad?

MUDD: Mudd truly captures the spirit of woman by showing that women really can do it all. We can rebuild cities in clothes that are comfortable and stylish.

Kaiser Permanente: Not only does this ad feature a woman leader, but it also encourages us to believe in ourselves.

Girl Scouts: We love this ad for encouraging girls to dream big and defy self-doubt. Of course, we expect nothing less from the Girl Scouts.

Eileen Fisher Kohl's/New Balance Wrinkled or Wonderful? Dove Ad

Eileen Fisher: "Women change the world everyday." A positive message and comfortable-looking clothing.

Kohl's/New Balance: Advertisers have finally figured out that women do play sports.

Dove: Wrinkled is wonderful.

Liz Claiborne Phoenix Wealth Management Reebok

Liz Claiborne: "Feel comfortable." Finally—a message we want to hear from a clothing ad!

Phoenix Wealth Management: Men aren't the only power players in the world of finance.

Reebok: Not only do women athletes star in this ad, even the copy is written from a woman's point of view.
